Cayuga Fund distributes more than $20,000 in grants

May 15, 2014 (Cayuga, NY) – The Cayuga Community Fund, a component fund of the Central New York Community Foundation, awarded $22,312 to twelve nonprofit organizations that serve residents of Cayuga County.

Auburn Chamber Orchestra received $1,000 to assist in purchasing new Timpani drums.

Auburn Public Theatre received $1,000 as financial support to provide scholarships for youth to attend summer theater camp.

Cayuga Museum of History and Art received $1,100 for musical equipment. The museum will add music as an audio component to its exhibits.

Perform 4 Purpose received $3,000 to purchase supplies for three new afterschool workshops as well as four existing workshops.

Cayuga-Onondaga Boards of Cooperative Educational Services (BOCES) received $2,722 to support labor and equipment costs to expand their food pantry garden.

National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) Auburn-Cayuga Chapter received $1,000 to purchase supplies for an annual School Supply Giveaway.

Merry-Go-Round Playhouse, Inc. received $3,000 to purchase two HeartSign Automatic External Defibrillators.

Southern Cayuga Instant Aid, Inc. received $2,100 to provide a continuous positive airway pressure system.

Cayuga Counseling Services, Inc. received $1,860 to secure Individual Crisis Intervention and Peer Support training for 14 community partners at the Child Advocacy Initiative.

Cayuga County Homsite Development Corp received $2,050 to purchase replacement computers.

Cayuga/Seneca Community Action Agency, Inc. received $1,380 to provide the Financial Literacy PILOT Program for Head Start/Early Head Start parents.

Rescue Mission Alliance received $2,100 to send previously-homeless children to Camp Casowasco.

The Cayuga Community Fund

The Cayuga Community Fund, created in 2008, is a geographically specific fund created to serve as a source of permanent charitable dollars available to nonprofits serving residents of Cayuga County. Grants are awarded from the endowment fund annually to aid vital programs in education, health, social services, the arts, civic and environmental concerns, as well as the preservation of historic resources in Cayuga County. The Cayuga Community Fund has granted more than $140,000 to nonprofit groups since 2010.

These grants were made possible with support from the Cayuga Community Fund and the Cayuga Health Association Fund.
