Community Foundation Funding Local Flood Relief Efforts
July 11, 2013 (Syracuse, NY) – The Central New York Community Foundation is contributing $10,000 to the American Red Cross of Central New York to aid in the immediate assistance of City of Oneida and Madison County flood victims. The local Red Cross has more than 100 trained volunteers on site in the affected areas to assist with relief efforts.
Community Foundation support will help the Red Cross to equip and support these local volunteers, maximizing their ability to respond quickly and effectively. Volunteers will work to address immediate needs including food, shelter, health care, counseling, and casework referrals.
“We are pleased to support the important work of the many trained volunteers from Central New York who are eager to help those suffering from the local flooding,” said Peter Dunn, President and CEO of the Community Foundation.
