Community Foundation Announces Marsellus Sabbatical Recipients
December 10, 2008 (Syracuse, NY) – The Central New York Community Foundation recently announced this year’s Marsellus Sabbatical grant recipients.
The John F. Marsellus Sabbatical Program was created in 2000 in memory of John’s desire to enhance the leadership capacity of CEOs and senior management staff of Central New York not-for-profit organizations. Two sabbatical opportunities are awarded to not-for-profit executives each year. The program provides executives with an environment to research, study and reflect for a period of four weeks to further their personal and professional growth and development. More than 17 executives have participated in the program since its inception.
This year’s recipients are:
Margaret (Marci) Henderson, Regional CEO, American Red Cross, Onondaga-Oswego Chapter – Marci, a 34-year veteran of the Red Cross, will attend the Disney Institute. There, she will attend workshops on leadership development, quality service, customer loyalty, organizational creativity and teambuilding.
Barbara McDermott, Director of Quality Assurance/Improvement, Madison Cortland ARC – Barbara has been with ARC for 17 years. Through the Sabbatical, she will acquire Certification in Healthcare Compliance at the Compliance Academy in Scottsdale Arizona.
